Angola, José Eduardo dos Santos, assinou a ordem de passagem à reserva do
almirante André Gaspar Mendes de Carvalho (Miau) em resposta à pretensão
daquele militar de se candidatar a vice-presidente da República pela coligação
CASA-CE, de Abel Chivukuvuku.
A este propósito,
um porta-voz da CASA-CE chamou a atenção para o facto de diversos militares no
activo exercerem funciones politicas no seio do MPLA, o que contraria o que
esta estipulado pela lei.

Mendes de Carvalho, filho do deputado do MPLA, Mendes de Carvalho, exerceu, ao
longo da sua carreira, diversas funções quer a nível militar quer a nível
diplomático.
