Mozambique is in many ways a development success story. It has made great strides, particularly since the signing of its peace agreement in 1992 and its first multiparty elections in 1994. Since that time, the government and its donor partners have stimulated impressive economic growth. However, Mozambique's development story is clouded by widespread and persistent corruption.
