Alberto Vaquina and Filipe Nyussi

Both Vaquina and Nyussi were picked from relative obscurity and put into senior posts by President Armando Guebuza. All three are party loyalists who will respect the authority of Armando Guebuza as president of Frelimo and someone who will have final say on key decisions. But all three have also shown the ability to establish autonomy with the Frelimo hierarchy. Thus Vaquina won respect as a heath director and governor, while in Tete he is also said to have managed well Guebuza’s and Guebuza’s daughter’s business interests there
